Robert E. Bess 
President

Robert E. Bess is the founder and president of N8-3D Solutions.  His professional experience encompasses both the AEC and mechanical markets with an emphasis on virtual reality and multimedia. 

Having worked as an applications engineer and manager for several Autodesk VARs over the years, Robert began N8-3D Solutions with a purpose -- to offer the most efficient solutions to clients unbiased by manufacturer sales quotas. In doing so, he has recruited the most talented people in the industry to develop and collaborate with customers to offer effective solutions and improve technical efficiency. 

With degrees in both virtual reality and information technology from the University of Advancing Computer Technology in Phoenix, Arizona, Robert has continued his education with certifications from Autodesk including 3D Studio VIZ, 3D Studio MAX, AutoCAD Release 14, Softdesk Architectural, and Softdesk Civil. His software capabilities include not only Autodesk and Discreet products, but also MicroStation and ProEngineer, giving him the industry knowledge to best recommend solutions for consulting projects. 

Robert’s managerial experience includes:

  AEC Manager at ESS Connect where he lead the AEC technical activities within the company and developed demonstration sets used by all office locations; 

  Technical Services Manager at Cadassist, Inc. responsible for scheduling the entire service, training, programming, help desk and IT departments in a customer driven atmosphere; 

  CAD Manager at Allied Signal, Reynolds Metals Company, Fresh Technologies, and Unique Machine & Tool Co. maintaining hardware and software on over 140 engineering and design systems across multiple facilities, establishing company wide drafting and documentation standards, and AutoCAD customization to accommodate ANSI standards, GD & T, and AutoLISP routines. 


Robert’s technical accomplishments include:

  The development of two U.S. co-patents on glue guns and glue tips while at Nordson Corporation; Created a program for Fresh Technologies that performs 40 man-hours of design work in approximately 12 minutes; 

  Developed proposed network infrastructure upgrade for Cadassist to allow for future growth of the communication needs of the main corporate headquarters and new satellite offices; 

  Implemented technical support contracts and created a technical support call tracking database to complement existing customer service operations; Participated in the annual F.I.R.S.T. competition by training 12 high school students to create a 30-second video for the animation team included on the Autodesk video. 

As president of N8-3D Solutions, Robert’s goal is to provide state-of-the-art technical and training solutions for clients spanning a vast array of industries including utility companies, municipalities, AEC firms, mechanical designers and multimedia professionals while providing an energetic and motivating atmosphere for a creative technical staff.
